Your Makeup, But Better: How a 1-1 Makeup Lesson Can Transform Your Routine

Bespoke Makeup Lessons in London for Everyday & Wedding Makeup

Have you ever looked at a makeup tutorial and thought, “That looks great, but I’m not sure it would work on me”?

Or perhaps you have a drawer full of makeup products but aren't quite sure what to do with them, which products are actually worth using, or how to create a makeup look that feels like you?

This is exactly why I love offering 1-1 makeup lessons!

Rather than following a generic tutorial, my makeup lessons are completely bespoke to you. I can help you understand your own features, work with the products you already have, introduce you to new techniques and, most importantly, give you the confidence to recreate your makeup yourself.

Whether you're looking for an everyday makeup lesson, a DIY bridal makeup lesson, or simply want to become more confident with your makeup routine, I tailor each session around what you actually want to learn.

What is a bespoke makeup lesson?

A bespoke makeup lesson is exactly that: a makeup lesson designed specifically around you. Everyone has different features, skin, preferences and levels of experience, so I don't believe in teaching the exact same makeup routine to everyone.

During a private 1-1 makeup lesson, we can focus on the areas you're most interested in. You might want to learn how to create a natural, polished everyday look, understand how to apply eyeliner, perfect your base, learn how to work with your particular eye shape or finally get to grips with contour and blush.

You may also have a collection of products at home that you're not using properly, or at all. Bringing these along can be really useful, as I can show you how to use them effectively and advise on whether there are any gaps in your makeup bag.

My aim is for you to leave your makeup lesson feeling like you understand why you're doing each step, rather than simply having watched someone else apply makeup.

Everyday makeup lessons

One of the most popular reasons to book a makeup lesson is simply to become better at your everyday makeup.

Perhaps your current routine has stayed the same for years and you're ready for a refresh. Maybe you're unsure how to adapt your makeup as your skin, lifestyle or preferences have changed. Or perhaps you've never really learned how to apply makeup properly and want someone to show you where to start.

An everyday makeup lesson can be completely personalised to your lifestyle.

We can create a quick and achievable routine for busy mornings, or spend more time looking at techniques for a more polished finish when you have somewhere special to go.

I'll also take into account whether you prefer a very natural finish or something a little more defined. My approach to makeup is generally about enhancing rather than masking, so I always want your finished look to still feel like you.

Looking for a bridal makeup lesson?

If you're getting married, a bridal makeup lesson can be incredibly useful, particularly if you're planning to do your own makeup on your wedding day. Doing your own bridal makeup doesn't mean you have to figure everything out yourself.

A private wedding makeup lesson gives you the opportunity to learn exactly how to create your chosen bridal look, while also understanding how to make your makeup last throughout the day.

We can talk through everything from your skincare and base to concealer, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow and lashes. I'll show you techniques that suit your features and help you understand which products and finishes will work best for photographs.

I can also help you think practically about your wedding day. Your makeup needs to look beautiful in person, but it also needs to photograph well and stay looking fresh for many hours.

Most importantly, I'll help you create a bridal makeup look that doesn't feel like a completely different version of you.

If you love natural wedding makeup, for example, we can focus on creating beautiful, glowing skin, softly defined eyes and a polished finish without making the makeup feel heavy.

1-1 makeup lessons for all experience levels

You don't need to be a complete beginner to benefit from a private makeup lesson. Some of my clients come to me having barely used makeup before, while others already have a good understanding of makeup and simply want to refine their technique.

You might want help with one particular area, such as:

  • Creating a more natural-looking base

  • Choosing the right foundation and concealer

  • Applying blush and bronzer

  • Understanding contouring

  • Creating flattering eye makeup for your eye shape and features

  • Applying eyeliner

  • Creating a long-lasting makeup look

  • Choosing colours that complement you

  • Updating an older makeup routine

  • Getting more use out of the products you already own

Because the lesson is private and bespoke, we can spend our time on the things that will make the biggest difference to you.

Why choose a private makeup lesson?

I think one of the biggest benefits of a 1-1 lesson is that you can ask all the questions you might not think to ask when watching a video online. If something doesn't feel right, we can stop and work out why.

If you struggle with a particular technique, I can demonstrate it and then watch you practise it yourself. And if a particular trend simply doesn't suit your preferences, we don't have to force it into your routine!

My role isn't to give you a list of rules. It's to help you understand makeup well enough that you can make your own decisions with confidence.

Makeup lessons in South London and Streatham

I'm based in South London, and offer private makeup lessons from my home studio in Streatham.

If you're searching for a makeup lesson in London, I'd love to help. I work with each client individually, so whether you're completely new to makeup, looking for an everyday refresh or preparing to do your own makeup for your wedding, we can build the lesson around you.

Ready to feel more confident with your makeup?

You don't need to own a huge makeup collection or be naturally “good at makeup” to learn. You simply need to be willing to have a play, ask questions and practise.

My bespoke makeup lessons are designed to give you practical techniques that you can actually use at home, without making your makeup routine unnecessarily complicated. Whether you're looking for an everyday makeup lesson, a bridal makeup lesson, or simply want to improve your skills, I'd love to create a session that's completely tailored to you.
