How It Works

From that first enquiry to the final touches on your wedding day, every step of your Lucent experience is made to feel calm, personal, and totally effortless. Here’s how the process works:

  • We’d love to hear from you! Once you have reviewed our packages, please get in touch via the contact page, providing as much information as possible about your requirements so that we can answer any questions you have and provide an accurate quote.

    We’ll get back to you via email within 48 hours to confirm our team’s availability and pricing.

  • If myself or my team are available for your event/wedding day, we’ll send you a quote based on the details you’ve provided.

    Should you wish to proceed with a booking, a booking fee payment is required, which gives you the reassurance that your date is fully secured. You’ll then receive a Bridal Information Pack with lots of useful tips on how to prepare for the trial and wedding day!

  • Once your wedding date is secured we can arrange your bridal preview design appointment (recommended 3-6 months prior to your wedding date). At your bridal preview we can discuss all of your personal requirements on a one-to-one basis and trial your perfect wedding day look! It allows you to see how your skin and/or hair reacts with the products used and gives you a chance to provide feedback so that any necessary adjustments can be made for the wedding day. Your artist will take notes of the products used and lots of pictures so that your perfect bridal look can be recreated on your wedding day.

  • You want your wedding hair and makeup experience to be as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, right? We’ll make sure that you feel relaxed, pampered, and prepared to enjoy your special day!

    A detailed schedule will be confirmed and agreed with you before the big day so that everything runs smoothly and your bridal party know exactly who is required in the chair when, and for how long.

    Depending on the size of the bridal party we may enlist an additional artist/s to assist with the bridal party (this will be discussed when you make a booking).

  • Absolutely! There are many reasons why having a hair and makeup artist is a worthwhile investment for your wedding day:

    Professional & stress-free experience: As Bridal Hair and Makeup specialists with years of experience, and having worked with hundreds of brides, we know exactly how the process works and what is required to ensure a calm, stress-free experience and a flawless hair and makeup look.

    Keeping things organised: Regular communication and a clear and detailed schedule ensures a seamless wedding morning. We know how long things take and will ensure that everyone is accounted for.

    Longevity: Wedding days are long, and often require an early start. Your hair and makeup need to last. We use the latest products and techniques to ensure that your makeup will last throughout and your hair will withstand the dance floor!

    The bridal party: When dealing with a larger bridal party, you will need a professional to help! We create a schedule so that everyone knows when they are required in the chair. If timings are tight or numbers are high, we may bring additional artists to assist with getting everyone ready on time.

  • Yes, I personally use cruelty-free hair, makeup, and skincare products, and I also carry several vegan options if that’s something you’d prefer. Within the Lucent team, each artist has their own kit with a variety of products, so if it’s important to you to work exclusively with cruelty-free and/or vegan brands, please let us know in your enquiry. We’ll try to match you with the right artist to make sure your preferences are respected.

  • Based in Streatham, South West London, Alice extends her mobile hair and makeup services across Central and Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Berkshire, and Hampshire. Alice and her team travel around the UK and further afield for destination weddings. Please provide your event location and postcode in your enquiry so we can include any travel fees in your quote.

The Booking

  • We have a full price list on our website to view before you make an enquiry. To view our hair and makeup packages please click here.

  • Wedding bookings on peak dates require minimum booking numbers, as outlined in our price list.

  • A non-refundable booking fee is required to secure your event/wedding date in our diary. This fee covers the administrative time involved in preparing and managing your booking, as well as reserving the artist’s availability for your agreed date and time.

    This is a booking fee, not a deposit. Enquiries for which the booking fee has not been received are not confirmed, and availability cannot be guaranteed. The booking fee will be deducted from your final balance

  • To ensure the availability of your wedding date and to cover the administrative costs associated with the preview and wedding services, previews aren’t available without securing your wedding date first.

    While you're welcome to book a bridal design preview at any point, it's highly advisable to secure your wedding date as early as possible to avoid disappointment, as dates cannot be held without a booking fee. This ensures peace of mind for both you and the artist.

  • The amount of hair and makeup services we are able to carry out on the wedding day will depend on how much time is available on the day, how early you want to start, and what time you all need to be ready. We very used to early starts but understand that not everyone wants to be up at the crack of dawn on their wedding day! Should you wish to have a later start or you have too many bridal party members for one artist to manage, we can bring an additional artist to help. There is a fee for additional artists to be added to the booking and this will be confirmed in your quote.

  • If you’re feeling a bit nervous about being in front of the camera, you’re not alone! Many brides feel the same way. But with a little gentle guidance and support from us, you’ll soon feel relaxed and able to enjoy the moment. We’ll be there to help you feel at ease every step of the way as you walk towards the aisle.

The Bridal Design Preview (Trial)

  • Bridal previews (sometimes referred to as ‘trials’) are extremely important and worth having even if you are set on a particular idea for your wedding day. They provide the opportunity to try the look you have in mind and ensure that you feel totally comfortable with what you’ve chosen. We can discuss the look you want and make adjustments and tweaks so that it works for YOU.

    Your bridal preview will probably be the first opportunity for you to meet your stylist and means you will have a familiar face there on the wedding day. Having the chance to get to know each other means you will feel completely comfortable and relaxed on the big day! It also gives us a chance to get to know your hair and skin type and how best to achieve the look you’re aiming for.

    Trialling your hair and makeup allows you to see how your skin and/or hair reacts with the products used and gives you a chance to provide feedback so that any necessary adjustments can be made for the wedding day. Using photographs and notes, we record the methods and products used so we can easily replicate the look on the wedding morning.

  • We recommend having your preview appointment 3-6 months prior to your wedding day. This allows you time to book in for a haircut and/or colouring appointment, and to order any hair accessories or hair extensions, if necessary.

    We will do our best to work around your schedule, but understandably our weekends are busy with weddings and we therefore keep preview appointments to Monday–Thursday. You should have your preview during daylight hours so that you have a clear view of what your hair and makeup will look like on the wedding day.

  • Bridal hair and makeup previews take place at Alice’s home in Streatham, SW16. On-location previews may be available depending on your location, with a £60 surcharge plus travel fees required. For team artists, preview locations vary based on the artist’s location.

  • Once you have secured your booking we will send over a Bridal Information Pack to help you prepare for the preview and wedding day. A good rule of thumb is to arrive with clean and dry hair and cleansed, makeup-free skin. It's helpful to wear a top of a similar colour and neckline to your wedding dress and to bring any accessories you might be wearing on the wedding day. We are happy to answer any questions you have prior to the bridal preview so that you know what to expect.

  • We will talk through your ideas for hair and makeup and will make suggestions based on our professional experience. Taking on board your inspiration images and having spoken to you in more depth about your desired look, we will create a hair and/or makeup look perfectly tailored to you.

    Once we’ve created your bridal look and you’re completely happy with everything, we will record all the products used, take photographs, and make notes so that your bespoke wedding hair and makeup look can be replicated with ease on the wedding day.

  • We will ask you to pinpoint a particular hair and makeup style you like or a couple of favourites before your appointment. Too many options can get confusing and lead to an unsuccessful preview, as you might leave feeling undecided on the style that’s right for you.

    Hair can be difficult to maintain if it is over-styled, and can start to look messy and untidy when it has been put up and taken down several times and overloaded with product. Skin can get irritated and dry if makeup is applied and removed several times.

    If you wish to try several hair and makeup styles, we suggest booking a second preview.

  • We completely understand how frustrating it can be to invest your hard-earned money, only to feel that the end result isn’t quite ‘you.’ The beauty of our effortlessly elegant styles is that they’re uniquely tailored to each bride, ensuring a look that feels authentically you. That’s why re-trial requests are incredibly rare—less than 1%!

  • Your preview appointment is an intimate opportunity for us to collaborate closely on creating your perfect bridal look, and to get to know each other! To maintain focus and ensure personalised attention, it's best to keep previews one-on-one. However, if you'd like to bring someone along for support, we recommend limiting this to just one guest. While a second opinion can offer valuable feedback, too many voices can become overwhelming, and it's important that the preview remains centred on you.

  • Bridal party previews are not essential, but can still be useful in some cases. If someone is unsure about how they want their hair and/or makeup on the day and want to try something out prior to the wedding day, then they're welcome to book a preview. There isn’t time on the wedding morning to experiment with different styles, so if someone is unsure about what they want, having a trial run beforehand can be a way of avoiding any disappointment or stress on the wedding morning.

The Wedding Day

  • On your wedding day you will be able to sit back and relax with the confidence that you are in my capable hands! We will ensure that everything is prepared and organised so that your morning is totally stress-free. We will send you a schedule prior to the wedding day so you and your bridal party know exactly what time you are all needed.

    We understand how hectic a wedding morning can be so we are on-hand to help out with anything we can and to make the experience as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. We allow time for touch-ups to be made before you leave for the ceremony to ensure you look your best.

  • We normally allow the following timings for wedding day hair and makeup:

    Bride Hair and Makeup: 2 hours
    Bride Hair Only: 1 hour 15 min
    Bride Makeup Only: 1 hour 15 min
    Bridal Party Hair and Makeup: 1 hour 30 mins
    Bridal Party Hair Only: 45 mins
    Bridal Party Makeup Only: 45 mins

    We will send you a schedule prior to the wedding day allocating hair and makeup slots for you and your bridal party. We allow some time to set up before starting the first service to ensure we are organised and ready to go. We usually start with hair services and then move onto makeup so that the makeup feels fresh for the ceremony. It also means we can concentrate on one service at a time. Should this be an issue due to bridal party members arriving at different times we can alter the schedule accordingly.

    We recommend having all the hair and makeup services finished approximately 45-60 mins before everyone needs to leave for the ceremony to allow time for touch-ups and photographs and to avoid rushing around.

  • Great question! This has never been an issue, as we only use professional, photography-friendly products that are carefully selected to prevent flashback. This ensures your makeup looks flawless in all lighting conditions, from natural daylight to camera flashes.

  • Many Lucent Hair & Makeup brides love the idea of a subtle evening transformation—whether it’s adding a touch of glamour for the first dance or a soft style change. With our Deluxe bridal package, we’ll be there to refresh your look so you can enjoy the best of both worlds on your wedding day.

    We also offer an hourly touch-up service for a post-ceremony refresh, ensuring you feel flawless from start to finish!

Travel

  • The Lucent Hair & Makeup team cater to the whole of the South East, including Central and Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, and Sussex.

    We are of course happy to travel wherever needed, including for destination weddings. For journeys that exceed 90 minutes, or for bookings with a very early start time, overnight accommodation will need to be provided the night before.

  • Yes, we love travelling for destination wedding bookings and elopements!

    Flights, accommodation and transfers will all need to be provided. All charges/fees will be included in your quote.

  • We are based in London and work widely across the Home Counties, including Surrey, Kent, Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, West Sussex, and East Sussex. We also cover The Cotswolds, travel across the UK, and are available for destination weddings abroad.
