In the weeks leading up to your big day it is a good idea to prepare for your wedding morning so that you don’t forget the little (but important!) essentials. I have put together some top tips on how best to prepare and what to remember to pack, so that you aren’t caught short on the big day!

“So what do I need to remember to do before and on my wedding morning…?”

Take note of this to do list and check it off a few days before your wedding:

WEDDING DAY TO DO LIST

  • Review the hair and makeup schedule with your bridal party before the wedding day so that everyone knows when they’re needed in the hair and makeup chair. This avoids people waiting around unnecessarily and keeps everything running smoothly.

  • Come with clean and dry hair, ideally washed the evening before. Forget the myth you heard about having week-old hair and please don’t wash your hair in the shower 5 minutes before your time slot!

  • Remove bras/bra straps as well as watches and hair ties a few hours before getting dressed to avoid strap marks on your skin.

  • Wear something comfortable like a robe or button shirt that you don’t have to pull over your head after hair and makeup. Cotton can be cooler than satin or silk on warmer days!

  • Avoid using hair masks or heavy hair oils and serums the night before the wedding as it can leave the hair feeling heavy and over-moisturised before hair styling.

  • Get any physical tasks such as dress steaming done before having your hair and makeup so that you won’t be getting hot and bothered once you’re glammed up!

  • Keep hydrated in the days and weeks leading up to the wedding and on the day itself. Ensure to have a bottle of water with you alongside your glass of bubbly! Great skin comes from within, so drinking water is key to having a healthy and hydrated complexion.

  • Remember to sit back and relax whilst you’re in the makeup chair. This is your time to escape the chaos and enjoy the experience of being pampered! It makes my job easier if you are calm and still whilst having that intricate eyeliner or bold lip done, so try to avoid the sometimes hectic atmosphere and chit-chat of the bridal party and enjoy a quiet moment.

“Is there anything I need to have with me on the big day?”

Here is a list of useful items to have with you on your wedding day:

WHAT TO PACK FOR THE WEDDING DAY

  • Some hair grips to have with you on the day, just in case you need to pin a loose strand of hair.

  • Safety pins! I probably don’t need to explain why, but these are a MUST for any last minute dress adjustments.

  • A lipstick or lipgloss for lip touch-ups throughout the wedding day and evening.

  • A packet of mints, especially if there’s going to be any garlic in your wedding breakfast…!

  • A small pair of scissors to cut off any tags or loose threads. If I had a pound for every time I have been asked for a pair of scissors I would be rich!!

  • Your favourite perfume - preferably in a travel-size atomiser so you can keep it with you and refresh later in the day or at the end of the night…

Now that you’ve read this post, you know exactly how to prepare for your wedding morning! Remember to think about what you cannot be without. Preparation is key to having a relaxing and stress-free wedding day and will save valuable time that you won’t have on the morning itself. Enjoy planning and packing those essential items and feel satisfied when you tick off the items on your to do list. When you get to your wedding morning you will know you have everything covered and prepared for all eventualities. BREATHE - YOU’VE GOT THIS!
