Wondering how best to prepare your skin ahead of your wedding day to ensure a flawless finish? Here’s a simple guide with some top tips on how to achieve glowing, radiant skin for your big day.

As a professional wedding hair and makeup artist, I’ve seen first-hand how important it is for brides to have glowing, radiant skin on their wedding day. After all, your skin is the foundation for your makeup, and great makeup starts with great skin. So, if you want to ensure that you look your best on your big day, it’s essential to take care of your skin in the run-up to your wedding. Here are my top tips for prepping your skin for your wedding day.

1.   Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! One of the most important things you can do for your skin is to stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps to flush out toxins and keep your skin looking plump and hydrated. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water a day and avoid dehydrating drinks like alcohol and caffeine.

2.   Get into a skincare routine. If you don’t already have a skincare routine, now is the time to start. Cleansing, toning and moisturising twice a day is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Choose products that are gentle and suited to your skin type, and stick to your routine religiously.

3.   Exfoliate regularly. Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, which can leave your skin looking brighter and more radiant. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub once or twice a week, or try a chemical exfoliant like glycolic acid to help reveal brighter, smoother skin.

4.   Protect your skin from the sun. The sun’s rays can cause damage to your skin, leading to wrinkles, age spots and other signs of ageing. Protect your skin by wearing a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day, even on cloudy days.

5.   Treat yourself to a facial. Treating yourself to a professional facial is a great way to give your skin a boost in the run-up to your wedding. A good facial can help to deep-cleanse your skin, remove impurities, and leave your skin looking brighter and more radiant.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your skin is in the best possible condition for your wedding day so your bridal makeup will look flawless. Remember, beautiful makeup starts with great skin, so take the time to look after your skin in the lead up to your big day and you’ll be rewarded with a radiant, glowing complexion that’s sure to turn heads!
